Devon and Somerset wing is unique in the South West Region by operating a specialist music unit
The Wing Music Flight was established to provide all cadets within the Devon and Somerset Wing the opportunity to get involved in music at all levels, from beginner to advanced.
As well as delivering Corps Music objectives, Music Flight cadets will have further opportunities to develop their leadership and teamwork skills. There are a number of lead posts within the Flight that are filled by cadets. This is a unique opportunity for cadets to take on a leadership role at Wing level.
The Flight parades on the first Saturday of each month at RMB Norton Manor, Taunton from 10:00-14:00 with a 20 minute break for brunch in the mess at 11:30. Where there are clashes with major Wing events the Music Flight parade will be rescheduled.
In months where there is a planned Wing Training Weekend, the monthly parade will move to Fremington on the Sunday, and provide accompaniment to the final parade.
In addition to these regular training parades, from Jan 09 there will also be a program of events that will include training camps, performances and tours. These will be publicized well in advance.

The Music Flight is now well and truly up and running, and we have a large number of cadets and staff involved.
We are still actively recruiting and are particularly looking for instrumentalists, at any level, to join the already strong woodwind and brass sections of the band.
There are also places available in the percussion sections, where we can teach you from scratch.
